RPGaDay 2016 – Day 9
What things are a part of your ideal session, other than the actual game?
Short Answer: Player engagement.
Long Answer: There really is only one thing required for an ideal session. It’s not a cunning plot from the GM, or monsters and NPCs that are just challenging enough to scare the players without killing them outright, or the range of accents the GM uses to help the players distinguish between different NPCs. These are all nice to have, but are in no way required.
The only thing you really, truly need is players engaged and present with what’s going on during the game. It’s best when everyone is working together for the group’s enjoyment. This doesn’t mean that players should avoid intra-party conflict at all cost, it should just be limited to behaviour appropriate to their character.
