The reason for the season
There’s only a week or so until Christmas Day. The most wonderful time of the year, according to some. It’s been a bit of a mixed bag for my family for some time now, but we certainly the most of it. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of the more ‘traditional’ aspects of the season, partly because it falls in midsummer here in NZ. Not a lot of sleighs and mistletoe here, though we do have our own native Christmas tree. There have been times, however, where the mood has taken me and I’ve gotten into the Christmas spirit more than I usually do.
One such occasion spurred me to flex my geek muscles in a festive manner and do a little writing. The result was a short Christmas-themed adventure for Hollow Earth Expedition. Santa Claus and pulp adventure are not common bedfellows, but who can resist the chance to save Santa from some evil Nazi scum.
Here is the adventure, written back in 2007. If you don’t have a copy of the Hollow Earth Expedition rules, don’t worry. You can download a copy of the 2008 Free RPG Day adventure (also co-written by me) here. If you’re wondering what to do with the family over the holidays (especially if the weather has turned bad), why not gather around the table and spend a few hours feeding Nazis to dinosaurs and saving Christmas in the process.
